TWO firearms including an AR-15 rifle were among items seized by police officers.
Two people were also arrested during anti-crime exercises conducted across the country between Sunday and Monday, a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated.
In the North Central Division, Task Force officers who were on an Active Directed Patrol Exercise as part of Operation Grand Slam between 10 am and 2 pm on Monday when they stopped and searched a white Hyundai Elantra motor vehicle with two male occupants in the Arouca district.
One suspect managed to escape, while the second, a 20-year-old of Arouca, was held for possession of a firearm and eleven rounds of ammunition.
In the Southern Division, Task Force officers executed a search warrant at the Chase Village home of a 39-year-old suspect around 2.30 pm, on Sunday. During the search, the suspect attempted to escape, but was quickly apprehended by officers.
One AR-15 rifle fitted with a magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition and a quantity of marijuana were found in a bedroom of the house.
And, officers of the Morvant Police Station and Criminal Investigations Department conducted an intelligence-led exercise between 9 pm and 11 pm, on Monday, during which they proceeded to Second Caledonia Extension, Morvant.
There, they searched a bushy area in the vicinity of the Cathedral Church, which resulted in 11 rounds of assorted ammunition, three smoke canisters, one bulletproof vest and 1.6 kilogrammes of marijuana being discovered.
Investigations are ongoing into all the above matters.
