ANOTHER cache of guns and ammunitions have been seized by Trinidad and Tobago police.
Officers raided a warehouse in Couva on Monday morning and discovered several guns and a large quantity of ammunition of various calibres.
A release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated that the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) received intelligence on Sunday that a container with household appliances was imported into Trinidad.
The intelligence revealed that this shipment was housed at a warehouse situated off the Southern Main Road, Mc Bean, Couva.
Police said intelligence suggested that the items entered the country sometime around the end of February.
The SIU collaborated with the Central Gang Intelligence Team and the Customs and Excise Division and commenced an operation to identify the items contained in the container.
Around 7 am on Monday, personnel from the SIU went to the warehouse where the container was retrieved and an examination conducted.
The following items were discovered concealed in the container:
- 200 rounds of 7.62mm wolf performance brand.
- 150 rounds of 9mm black blazer brand.
- 20 boxes of pure hemp big bambi brand.
- 20 boxes of wrapping paper big bambi brand.
- 6 black 9mm ammunition drums
- 3 black 5.56mm ammunition drums
- 700 rounds of .45 ammo Center Fire brand
- 60 rounds of 5.56 mm ammo. American eagle brand.
- 1 MAGPUL assault rifle with scope
- 3 black 5.56 mm magazines
- 4 pistols each with 1 magazine.
- 2 brown coloured “rouni” attachments with scopes. “This turns any pistol into an automatic firing weapon”
- 10 boxes of .40 ammo. 50 rounds per box
- 6 .40 extended magazines
- 50 rounds of 9mm hollow point.
Police also seized a large cache of high-powered weapons last Thursday at the airport bond.
