THE ongoing amnesty for late corporate filings has been extended until January 13, 2025.
According to a release from the Office of the Attorney General on Friday, this decision comes in light of ongoing technical difficulties with the Companies Registry Online System (CROS) at the Ministry of Legal Affairs, which have disrupted some filing operations.
The current amnesty, originally set to expire on December 13, 2024, waives penalties for late filings, allowing companies to comply with their obligations under the Companies Act without facing fines. The Attorney General is advising Cabinet on this extension to assist businesses that have been affected by the technical issues.
The Office of the Registrar General confirmed that no penalties will be imposed before the new deadline, encouraging all companies to take advantage of this final opportunity to submit outstanding documents and bring their records up to date.
Officials said the urgency of compliance, noting that failure to address these filings could negatively impact international taxation obligations and transparency ratings. Companies are strongly urged to utilize this last chance to avoid potential repercussions.
The Office of the Attorney General and the Ministry of Legal Affairs expressed their regret over the disruptions and assured the public that efforts are underway to restore full service availability as quickly as possible.
