MINISTER of Rural Development and Local Government Khadijah Ameen visited flood mitigation sites on Tuesday as part of ongoing efforts to address flooding across the country.
As the Member of Parliament for St Augustine, Ameen visited Rambajahu Street in Aranguez, marking the second in a series of site visits aimed at identifying and addressing drainage and infrastructural issues.
Ameen also visited a flood mitigation site at Shurland in Carenage, accompanied by Mayor Alderman Glasgow-Warner and members of the Diego Martin Borough Corporation.
Meanwhile, Minister in the Ministry of Housing and Member of Parliament for Port of Spain North/St Ann’s West Philip Edward Alexander is calling on residents to report areas affected by flooding or clogged drains.
Alexander via Facebook said, “If when rain falls it floods by you, message me right here or privately. If your rivers and drains are overgrown or clogged, message me on this thread and we will have it addressed.”
Alexander said he has been in contact with Minister Ameen, who has requested a list of priority areas to be added to the national clean-up and drainage programme.
He said, “Our Prime Minister the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar has given us the mandate – serve the people.”
