ALL 279 schools selected for the July/August Vacation Repair Programme will be open and ready for the new school year, starting September 8.
This was confirmed on Tuesday afternoon by the Ministry of Education.
In a release the ministry stated, “The Ministry of Education (MOE) is pleased to report that substantial progress on it’s July/August Vacation Repair Programme (VRP) and confirms that all 279 Government and Government Assisted Primary and Secondary schools selected for extensive upgrades will be fully prepared to welcome students for the start of the new Academic Year 2025-2026 on Monday, September 8, 2025.”
The MOE stated that of the 279 schools, 246 have had their full scope of work completed. 26 schools were in the stages of completion and work being done would not disrupt or impact the start of school.
The MOE noted that 8 schools were “addressed through specialised initiatives, including targeted projects, corporate partnerships, collaborations and emergency repair interventions to guarantee their readiness for the new academic turn.”
Commenting on the readiness of schools, Minister of Education Dr Michael Dowlath said, “I am proud that, through collaboration and strategic planning, all schools will be ready to open on schedule. Ensuring that our children are safe, secure, and welcoming for every student is a top priority as we continue to provide schools with the required equipment and funding, equipment and supplies to deliver quality education.”
The Ministry extended their gratitude to all stakeholder who played a part in the school repair programme for their commitment to ensuring all work was completed in time.
