Alexander Visits Accident Site

FIVE individuals travelling in a maxi taxi were injured when the maxi-taxi collided with a garbage truck in Arima.
Police reports are that around 7.50 am on Monday, a garbage truck driven by 47-year-old Kerwyn Brown of St James, an employee of Bartholomew Transport Company Limited, was proceeding west along the Priority Bus Route (PBR).

Upon reaching the intersection of Olton Road and the PBR in Arima, the driver signalled to turn north.
At the same time, a 25-seater maxi taxi driven by 39-year-old Jenna Galindo of Arima, which was proceeding in the same direction collided with each other. The maxi taxi subsequently lost control and crashed head-on into a lamp pole on the northern side of the roadway.

Five individuals in the maxi-taxi, including the driver and four passengers, two of whom were students of El Dorado East Secondary School, sustained minor to moderate injuries. All were transported to the Arima Hospital for medical treatment, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated in a media release.
 The scene was processed by the Northern Division CSI. Investigations are ongoing and are being led by Sgt Elder-Baksh.
Acting Commissioner of Police Junior Benjamin, and Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander also visited the scene.
