POLITICAL Leader of the Progressive Empowerment Party (PEP) Phillip Edward Alexander says his entity will purchase emergency lights for an area of concern along the Solomon Hochoy Highway in Debe.
In a release, on Sunday, the PEP described this area as a death strip and promised to have the light in four weeks.
It stated, “The party intends to purchase at their expense flashing orange emergency roadside lights and barrels to mount them on. These barrels will be coated in reflective day glow material with the words ‘CAUTION’, ‘ROAD ENDS’ and ‘SLOW DOWN’, which will be positioned at alternating intervals on either side of the southbound lanes for the last five hundred meters and on the roundabout itself.”
The PEP stated, “The party insists that the signage that currently exists is practically useless when visible and even less so when covered by the roadside shrubbery, and this lack of urgent caution has led to too many preventable deaths by unsuspecting highway users.”
Added to all of this, waiting on the authorities to do something about it is getting us nowhere as the bodies continue to pile up while the government and opposition play cheap politics with a problem easy to solve.
It all about defensive driving. You can’t be late twice but you can be DEAD on time
This disregard by MoWT not to use the people’s money for the safety of all it’s citizens.
