TWO government ministers held a meeting with US Chargé d’Affaires Jenifer Neidhart de Ortiz to discuss key issues surrounding national security and public safety.
Minister of Defence Wayne Sturge and the Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander attended to the meeting held on Monday.
The Ministry of National Security posted on its Facebook page that the meeting was productive.
“The dialogue focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, addressing regional security challenges and exploring new avenues for collaboration in intelligence sharing, border security, and emergency response capabilities,” the post stated.
The ministry stated, “This meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment between the United States and Trinidad and Tobago to maintaining peace, safeguarding our citizens and working together to combat evolving security threats.”
The meeting comes just days after Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar issued a warning to the Venezuelan government to be careful threading on Trinidad and Tobago soil.
