Alexander: Ivermectin Working against Covid

THE drug Ivermectin seems to be working in other countries against the deadly Covid-19 virus and it should not be demonised in Trinidad and Tobago.

This is according to Executive Director of the Citizens Union of Trinidad and Tobago (CUTT) Phillip Edward Alexander who is questioning why has the drug not been recommended for use by health officials.

In a statement on Friday, Alexander said countries that have high vaccination rates were now resorting to lockdown measures which indicated that the various vaccines were not effective enough against the virus.

“If more vaccines work, why isn’t it working for those fully vaccinated countries? The countries with the lowest vaccination rates have the lowest amount of cases. See the billion-plus in continental Africa. If the unvaccinated are the cause of the spread, why is that not so in Africa?” he questioned.

“The countries that used Ivermectin as a response to massive spikes saw their spikes collapse and the virus brought under control. See India, Brazil, Japan. If Ivermectin does not work, how come it worked in those countries? Why has the government who has demonized Ivermectin not been able to show one case where Ivermectin went wrong?” Alexander also asked.

He said although for the past six months, vaccines were available, the figures seem to prove otherwise with more than 2,000 deaths and the daily number of positive cases increasing at a rapid rate and the Government has nothing but to force vaccines onto the public.

Referring to Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley’s address to the nation on Thursday night, he said Dr Rowley threatened with examples of nations struggling and failing with a vaccine programme and the only reason why he has not yet resorted to measures in other countries was because of the upcoming Tobago House of Assembly (THA) election.

Dr Rowley is consistently leading the nation by misinformation, he said.

“Now the traditional public health system that was not coping before the virus has to do more with less and is collapsing, so they blame that on the virus too,” Alexander said.

The only solution to effectively deal with the pandemic and get back some sort of economic stability was to remove the entire Government from office, he said.

Alexander said, “The Government that was ill-prepared at the start seems to care less at this point.”

He is calling on others to join CUTT’s cause in that what he says is exposing the truth and ensuring better protection for citizens.

He said, “Political problems require political solutions. It is time to apply solutions that put all our people first.”

  1. There certainly seem to be a possible correlation between the 1600+ deaths in the 6 months after the introduction of the covid vaccine to Trinidad and Tobago and the vaccines themselves. Maybe the government should explain because prior to the vaccine implementation we had less than 300 deaths in 15 months.

Who is doing the maths and asking the hard questions and please don’t blame in on the delta variant; it’s only been with us, two months now.
As a people, we need to start thinking.

All will agree that COVID-19 is real and personal responsibility must be taken to protect ourselves but clearly the government’s knee jerk response is not the answer and people are dying.

A good response might have been for government to follow the science and pay attention to protecting the most vulnerable; the aged and those with underlying issues.

The five plus billion spent thus far on covid related expenditure, should have been spent on fixing our health care system and protecting the vulnerable.

Public education programmes and government policies should have been aimed at healthy lifestyles and the removal of dangerous foods that destroys the body from our supermarket shelves.

Instead in the last budget the government praised the removal of VAT from foods like flour, rice, sugar, oil and some canned food; all foods that cause diabetes and heart conditions.

The economy should have never been exposed to exhaustive lockdowns and the loss of billions in revenue and alternative medication should have at least been explored.

In the absence of critical thinking more people will die.
