ONE AK-47 rifle was among firearms and ammunition seized by police.
Two persons were arrested as officers conducted anti-crime exercises in different areas.
In the Port of Spain Division, officers of the Gang and Intelligence Unit conducted an exercise between 3 pm and 8 pm on Thursday during which they made searches at Duncan, Tilsbury and St Paul Streets.
During the searches, officers found and seized one AK-47 along with quantities of ammunition, an extended magazine and several component parts in the East Dry River district.
Two suspects, a 28-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, both of Port of Spain, were arrested in connection with the find.
In a separate incident, officers of the North Central Division Task Force, conducted an exercise between 10 pm and 2 am on Friday, in the Tunapuna district.
During the exercise, officers attempted to apprehend a man. On seeing the officers, the man allegedly dropped a firearm and made his escape. Investigations are ongoing into the above incidents, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated in a media release on Friday.
