TRINIDAD and Tobago sprinter Michelle-Lee Ahye has taken the silver medal at the women’s 100 metres at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, yesterday.
She finished in a time of 11.27 seconds with Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson winning gold in 11.18 seconds. Third was Brazil’s Cristina Silva Rosa in 11.30 seconds.
The other Team TTO runner in the finals Kelly-Ann Baptiste ended the race in 8th place with 11.52 seconds.
Ayhe’s medal is the first ever for TT athlete in the women’s 100 metres at the Pan Am Games.
This is TTO’s sixth medal of the games following cyclist Teniel Campbell silver in the individual time-trial. She is the first female cyclist from TT to win in a medal at the games.
