Adverse Weather Alert in Effect

AN ADVERSE Weather Alert #2 – Yellow Level is in effect from 5 am to 9 pm on Tuesday, according to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS).

The TTMS issued the alert on Monday.

A Yellow Level indicates the moderate risk of adverse weather which may interfere with daily activities.

The TTMS categorises the severity as moderate, with an unexpected urgency and likely certainty.

It  stated, “Unsettled conditions are expected with occasional heavy showers and periods of rain, likely reaching peak intensity during the afternoon. There is a medium (60%) chance of isolated thunderstorm activity. ”

“Gusty winds in excess of 55 km/hr can occur in the vicinity of heavy showers/thunderstorms, which may displace loose outdoor items and agitate seas.”

These conditions may lead to street/flash flooding, localised ponding and landslides/landslips in prone areas, the TTMS statedThe public is advised to secure loose outdoor objects, stay alert to flooding and landslides, and keep aware of surroundings and weather conditions while taking actions to prevent any potential hazards.
