AN Adverse Weather Alert has been extended to a Yellow Level #3 for Trinidad and Tobago until 10 am on Tuesday.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological in a 3.16 pm update stated, “Settled conditions are now dominant over Southern parts of Trinidad as impactful weather has decreased significantly. However, rainy periods can continue this evening in various locations.
“Impactful weather can still affect Northern Trinidad and Tobago and there is the medium to high (60-70%) chance of heavy downpours and thunderstorms, along with persistent rainy periods.”
In addition, saturated soils will increase the likelihood of localised ponding and street flooding as well as landslides/landslips in areas so prone.
Gusts in excess of 55km/h can be expected near heavy downpours and can displace loose outdoor objects and unsecured roofs. Therefore, members of the public are asked to secure loose items outdoors and avoid the urge to wade or drive through floodwaters.
They are also asked to monitor weather conditions and updates from official sources via www.metoffice.gov.tt and www.odpm.gov.tt.
