Adverse Weather Alert Extends to 6pm Sunday

THE Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has extended the adverse weather alert to Yellow Level #4 to 6pm on Sunday.

In a Facebook post at 10.35am on Sunday, the Met Office stated, “There remains a high potential (70%) for gusty winds in excess of 55km/h in the vicinity of showers/thunderstorms in isolated areas.

Seas can become agitated especially in the vicinity of heavy showers/thunderstorms.”

The effects were felt nationwide as several citizens across T&T experienced gusty winds at 55 km\hr and thundershowers throughout the night and into Sunday.

As the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development received  several reports of fallen trees and blown off roofs across the country.

In the Princes Town region, there was one report of a fallen tree across a roadway in La Paille Rd, Manahambre, and one report of a fallen tree on a home in the Mayaro/Rio Claro region.

In addition, there was another report of a fallen tree on a home and a blown off roof in the Arima region.

The public is urged to secure loose outdoor objects monitor weather conditions and updates from official sources via www.metoffice.gov.tt and www.odpm.gov.tt.
