ACTING Police Commissioner Mc Donald Jacob cancels a press conference originally scheduled for 12 noon today (Saturday).
A release on Saturday morning stated:
“The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Commissioner of Police Mc Donald Jacob wishes to advise that the Media Briefing previously carded for 12 noon on Saturday 25th September, 2021 at the Solomon Mc Leod Lecture Theatre, Fifth Floor, Police Administration Building, Corner Edward and Sackville has been cancelled until further notice.”
On Friday, a release had stated that the press conference would have been held with Jacob and Gary Griffith who has since taken the Police Service Commission to court for sending him on administrative leave pending an investigation into the firearms section of the TTPS. Griffith’s contract as police commissioner ended on August 17 and he was told to act and subsequently sent on leave.
Jacob told Tv6 on Friday evening that he did not authorise the release that was sent out on Friday.
His application for an injunction comes up in the High Court on Monday.
Media reports indicated on Saturday that Griffith has reached an agreement with the commission, but nothing has been confirmed.
