Manning is the son of former prime minister and longstanding MP for the same constituency and former political leader of the People’s National Movement (PNM) Patrick Manning.

When asked by AZPNews.com if any of those statement were true, Manning responded in a WhatsApp message “Both are untrue.”

He also resent the photo stamped “UNC Fake News.”

According to the Representation of the People Act, an elected MP must only be a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago and must not have allegiances elsewhere.
