PRESIDENT Christine Kangaloo continues to promote literacy as a cornerstone of national development through her initiative Storytime at The President’s House.

On Wednesday, in commemoration of World Read Aloud Day, Kangaloo hosted 52 students from Moulton Hall Methodist School and Preysal Government Primary School for a shared reading of ‘That Amazing Capybara’ by Alisa Gomez.

A press release from the Office of the President (OTP) stated students were invited to read aloud to Kangaloo, who then engaged them in a question-and-answer session.

The OTP stated Wednesday’s engagement held special significance as it coincided with World Read Aloud Day, under the theme “Celebrate Learning.”

Discussing the initiative, the OTP stated, “Storytime at The President’s House is designed to promote literacy, reading comprehension, self-confidence, and the general love of reading. Since its inception in 2023, Her Excellency has hosted ten such sessions with standard three students from over 25 primary schools participating to date.”

The President, stated the release, continues to champion reading as a “foundation for personal growth and national development.”
