Meanwhile in the North Eastern and Port of Spain Divisions, officers attached to the Inter-Agency Task Force on mobile patrol around 12:15 am on January 1, observed a man in the vicinity of Pelican Extension, Morvant, carrying what appeared to be a firearm.

The TTPS stated the suspect, seeing the officers, dropped the suspected firearm and fled the area. Officers pursued but were unable to capture the suspect.

A search of the area revealed the suspect was carrying an AR-15 rifle fitted with a magazine containing five rounds of 5.56 ammunition, all of which was seized.
