Sangre Grande Man on Bail for Robbery, Car Theft

A 22-year-old man, charged with robbery with aggravation has been granted bail to the sum of $65,000 with surety.

Shakquan Park, 22, of Sangre Grande, appeared by Master Indira Chinebas at the Sangre Grande Master’s Court on Friday to answer for charges related to a violent robbery that occurred on December 15. He was granted $65,000 bail with surety and ordered to remain 500 feet away from the complainant.

A statement on Monday from Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated Park was arrested on December 15, shortly after a report of Robbery with Aggravation was made to the Sangre Police Station.

Reports stated the victim was hired by Park to take him to Immortelle Crescent, North Eastern Settlement.

According to statements from the victim, upon arrival Park allegedly exited the vehicle, opened the driver’s door, removed the keys, and ordered the victim out of the vehicle.

The victim’s report stated several men surrounded the victim. Fearing for his life, he fled and was able to flag down a taxi, which took them to the Sangre Grande Police Station.

The TTPS stated shortly after officers led by Cpl Khan on mobile patrol spotted the suspect, who was quickly apprehended and the stolen vehicle recovered.

PC Boyd received the advice that Park be charged with robbery and aggravation on December 18.

The TTPS stated the quick arrest of Park represented a “success for the Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department, due to swift and responsive policing.”
