THE Ministry of Education (MOE) states that “no students were affected” following an isolated food safety incident that occurred within a caterer of the National Schools Dietary Services Limited (NSDSL).

The MOE indicated in a release on Thursday that the incident concerned one batch of food product provided by an authorised roti manufacturer.

The statement comes after recent reports of dead lizards allegedly found in boxed lunches under the NSDSL.

The release said, “The compromised batch was identified during routine pre-production checks, prior to any meal preparation. As a result, the items were immediately quarantined and removed from circulation, ensuring that they did not enter the School Nutrition Programme’s distribution claim.”

The MOE noted that the supplier’s surroundings were assessed by the NSDSL who continues to maintain that food safety is practised.
