Multiple Arrests in Barataria Area

THREE men were arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle in separate incidents.

In another incident, two men were held for robbery and larceny.

In a press release on Tuesday, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated that in the first incident, two men were arrested for possession of a stolen grey Toyota Aqua from the El Socorro area on November 2.

A 22-year-old man from Ashif Ali Drive, El Socorro, and a 30-year-old man from Upper Wharton Street, Laventille, were charged with larceny of a motor vehicle.

In the second incident, on November 3, a 22-year-old man was arrested in the Barataria District for possession of a stolen white Toyota Aqua from the Arima district.

He was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, driving without a driver’s permit and certificate of insurance and driving with false plates.

The suspect appeared before the Port of Spain High Court on Monday and was not called upon to plea and remanded in custody without bail. The matter was adjourned to December 8. He is also scheduled to appear with a charge of possession of housebreaking implements by night.

In the third incident, two men were arrested in connection with a robbery with violence which occurred on October 22, in the Barataria District. The victim was robbed of his cellphone and cash.

On November 5, officers arrested a 29-year-old Jamaican national and a 34-year-old, both residing at Ramcharan Drive, El Socorro.

The suspects were charged with robbery with violence and appeared before the Port of Spain High Court on Monday. The 29-year-old man was put into custody, while the 34-year-old man was granted bail with surety. The matter was adjourned to December 8.

The investigation was spearheaded by Snr Supt Claire Guy Alleyne, Supt Birch, and ASP Callender, under the supervision of Insp Ramsingh and Sgt Maynard.
