THE Trinidad and Tobago Revitalisation Blueprint Programme is a national vision that is long overdue.
This is according to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar who said the programme meant that Trinidad and Tobago is open for business to the world.
Speaking at the unveiling of the programme on Thursday at the Diplomatic Centre in St Anns, Persad-Bissessar declared the government’s vision was to rebuild and transform the country.

She said, “It is with great pride and unwavering resolve that I stand before you to launch the Trinidad and Tobago Redevelopment Programme. A transformative initiative that will reshape our communities, reignite our economy, and reaffirm our shared commitment to progress, dignity, and opportunity for all.
“This is more than infrastructure. It is a blueprint for belonging. From revitalised town centres to modern transport corridors, from sustainable housing to vibrant public spaces. We are building not just with concrete and steel, but with care, creativity, and conviction.”

Persad-Bissessar said, “Every citizen, in every corner of our country, deserves to live in a place that reflects their worth. This programme is designed to uplift, not just the landscape, but the lives within it. Jobs will be created. Businesses will thrive. Families will flourish. And our youth will see, in every new building and every restored street, a future that includes them.”
The focus was building sustainable and people-centred communities she said.
The prime minister said the programme design will address long-standing infrastructure challenges such as inadequate drainage, traffic congestion, and urban sprawl, while promoting resilience, climate adaptation, and smart mobility through multimodal transport systems.
Each project will incorporate renewable energy technologies, green building principles and inclusive public spaces, reflecting commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

She also said foreign investment was important for the success of the programme and partnerships will be formed with governments, international banks, regional development institutions and private investors from around the world.
“Trinidad and Tobago is open for business. Ready to welcome a wide range of proponents who want to invest, innovate, and grow with us.
Together, we will demonstrate what our twin islands nation state can and must become,” Persad-Bissessar said.
She added that a blueprint will be rolled out for Tobago in the future.
“Together, we will create a Trinidad and Tobago that stands tall once again, resilient, proud, and ready for the future,” Persad-Bissessar said.
Minister of Works and Infrastructure Jearlean John outlined in more detail projects to come on board until 2030.
