Boycato Road vehicle theft

Police are investigating the theft of a blue Kia Cerato, valued at $210,000, from a gated community on Boycato Road.

The 46-year-old owner told officers he parked and secured the car around 2 pmWednesday and discovered it missing about 5.55 am on Thursday. Police noted the community’s main automated gate has been inoperative since August due to a pending relocation of a project manager’s container.

East Dry River attempted break-in

A 35-year-old woman of Pierre Lane foiled a house-breaking attempt around 2.15 pm on Thursday after spotting a man trying to enter her home. The suspect—described as slim-built, dark-skinned, with a scar on his left cheek—wore a white long-sleeve shirt and a blue-and-white tie. He reportedly removed two window louvers on the northern side before fleeing when the resident raised an alarm.

Marketplace robbery at San Juan

A St Joseph man reported he was robbed around 9.30 am on Thursday on Weekes Trace after arranging via Facebook Marketplace to buy a PlayStation 5.

He told police a man matching the seller’s description approached his vehicle, then a second man—about six feet tall, slim, in a grey hoodie and armed with a firearm—threatened him. The pair allegedly took $3,000 and a Samsung A54 before fleeing north along Weekes Trace.

El Socorro home invasion

Police are probing a 3.30 am on Thursday burglary in which three tall, slim men in dark clothing with covered faces forced their way into an apartment where a 34-year-old Jamaican caretaker and her 18-month-old daughter were asleep.

One suspect carried an ice pick. The men announced a robbery and escaped with US$2,000 and the victim’s cellphone.

Barrackpore theft from pastor’s vehicle:

Police are investigating the theft of $11,000 from the centre console of a vehicle parked outside the Barrackpore home of 59-year-old pastor Ramesh Sookhan around 5.30 pm onThursday.

About 10 minutes later, his alarm sounded; CCTV showed a tall, slim, mixed-descent man dressed in black exiting a silver Toyota Aqua, entering the pastor’s vehicle, removing an envelope of cash, and driving off south in the Aqua. Crime Scene Investigators lifted workable fingerprints, and an all-points bulletin has been issued for the vehicle.

MovieTowne carpark smash-and-grab

Thieves made off with more than $100,000 in local currency and US$3,000 from a Nissan Navara parked in the underground carpark at MovieTowne, Port of Spain, on Wednesday evening.

Police said the 32-year-old East Dry River victim withdrew $100,000 at First Citizens at One Woodbroke Place and his centre console, left and went to MobieTowne where he parked near KFC around 5.45.

He returned an hour later to find a rear passenger window smashed and the money gone. The matter was reported to the MovieTowne Police Post; Port of Spain CID is investigating.
