A pilot with regional carrier, Caribbean Airlines (CAL), who was kidnapped last Wednesday, was found alive on Sunday as the police carried out an operation in the town of Maraval.
The police, while not revealing details, confirmed that Daniel Kawall, 59, was taken to hospital for treatment.
Kawall was rescued in a residential part of Maraval, following a coordinated investigation led by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU).
During the operation, one suspect was killed. The police also arrested two suspects who were intercepted early Sunday, shortly after they allegedly used Kawall’s bank card to withdraw cash from an ATM.
The coordinated effort was carried out by members of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), with vital support from the Coastal and Riverine Unit and other tactical teams.
Kawall, who lives in Valsayn North and operates a business in Piarco, had last been seen on Wednesday. His Toyota Hilux was reportedly spotted that night in Cascade, where residents reported hearing screams coming from the vehicle.
On Friday morning, kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of TT$1 million, setting off an intense manhunt. (CMC)
