PERMANENT works on a sinkhole along the Western Main Road, in the vicinity of the Carenage Police Station are expected to begin on Friday.
This, with a completion date of September 5, with favourable weather conditions, the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure stated in an updated public notice on Wednesday.
As an immediate safety measure, barricades and steel plates have been installed to stabilise the vulnerable area and protect commuters.
Traffic wardens have been assigned from Thursday during peak hours, to ease traffic congestion in the vicinity of the project.
Motorists and pedestrians are strongly advised to approach the area with extreme caution and to comply with the directions of traffic wardens on duty.
The ministry thanked the public for their cooperation and patience as it works swiftly to restore the safety and integrity of this segment of the roadway.
