In wrapping up the debate, Jeremie also took a jab at MP for Port of Spain North/St Ann’s West Stuart Young for statements made in a previous sitting of Parliament.
Jeremie said the problem was not solved even with prisoners being located to a remote location where communication was limited.
“That is not to say, that the problem is solved. We are not foolish. We understand that there are persons outside with whom those persons inside were communicating. Even a dunce like me could understand that. And if I could understand that then the very bright ones from Port of Spain North and my student from Laventille West and St Ann’s East and Arouca Lopinot, they might be able to follow as well.”

Jeremie said everyone agreed that the reason for the SoE was justified and that was more time was needed to rectify the problem.
The Senate meets on Tuesday at 1.30 pm for further deliberation on the extension.
