PLASTIC pieces found in a particular yoghurt brand is being recalled by Massy Distribution.
The Ministry of Health via its Chemistry Food and Drugs Division, advised of the voluntary recall of YoCrunch® Yogurt on Tuesday.
The ministry stated, “The recall issued by Massy Distribution is necessary due to the potential presence of plastic pieces in the dome that contains the toppings. According to the distributor, the issue is isolated to the toppings only and does not affect the separately packaged yogurt.”
The YoCrunch® Yogurt is approved for sale in Trinidad and Tobago.
The following flavours may be affected:
· Strawberry Low-fat Yogurt with Kellogg’s Granola 6 oz – expiry date August 28, 2025
· Vanilla Low-fat Yogurt with Oreo Cookies 6oz – expiry date August 6 and 8, 2025, September 3 and 9 , 2025
· Vanilla Low-fat Yogurt with Snickers 6 oz – expiry date August 6 and 21, 2025
The ministry is advising persons who may have purchased any of these flavours bearing the expiry date listed , to discontinue use immediately and to return to the place of purchase, where possible.
The recall comes one day after the ministry issued a recall of Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon Original” may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes (Lm), sale of which is also approved for in Trinidad and Tobago.
