161 Traffic Offences, 23 Arrests in SoE

THE Southern Division has recorded the highest level of operational activity, with 23 persons arrested and 151 traffic operations conducted in the last 24 hours.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) in a media release at 3.44 pm on Monday, reported that a total of 84 operations were conducted nationwide, resulting in 23 arrests, 161 traffic offences detected, and the seizure of two firearms, a rifle and a pistol and several quantities of ammunition as the officers continue enforcing the State of Emergency (SoE).

The operations, which spanned 12 divisions including specialised units, targeted high-priority offenders, criminal activity hotspots, and major roadways.
Bullets seized by police during operation
The exercises yielded the following:
• 507 searches conducted;
•45 traffic operations executed;
•36 priority offenders targeted;
•161 traffic offences detected;
• two firearms recovered (one rifle, one pistol);
•86 rounds of assorted ammunition;
•23 individuals arrested for various offences; and
•Seizure of camouflage clothing and ski mask

The Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) also played a significant role, contributing to the firearm seizures, the TTPS stated.
The efforts are part of TTPS’s ongoing commitment to proactive policing, targeting illegal firearms, traffic violations, and repeat offenders.
