WOMEN and young girls are being warned to be extremely careful with whom they interact with on social media.
The caution comes from Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander.
Answering questions from the media on Thursday at the post-Cabinet media briefing, the minister said a trend was being observed by law enforcement officers.
“I want girls to be especially careful with the social media network in terms of their dating behaviours,” Alexander advised.
He was asked to comment about the murder of a young woman Candice Honore, 22 whose body was believed to have been found in pieces in a suitcase on Thursday morning in Valencia.
Alexander responded, “All murders is of concern to the government, to the people are that are family.”
He also revealed without divulging too much information that the police was investigating in a particular manner in that case.
When further questioned as to why he would have spoken much more on related issues when he was a police officer heading the television programme “Beyond the Tape” Alexander replied as line minister now, he would not want to interfere in police investigations.
He said, “My responsibility is to give the police the tools to do their job and that is my intention.”
Alexander further said it may seem as if there was a spike in kidnapping however, “some of these things are investigated and a certain pattern is observed.”
