OPPOSITION Leader Pennelope Beckles is out of the country attending to both personal and professional business.
Opposition Chief Whip Marvin Gonzales informed the population on Wednesday that Beckles was in New York and expected to return next week.
Speaking at an Opposition press conference he said, “The Leader of the Opposition is attending some meetings with the diaspora in New York as well as he is also attending to some personal issues and she is expected to be back in the country next Monday.”
Gonzales said she was looking forward to again engaging citizens by reaching to various communities in all constituencies and meeting People’s National Movement (PNM) executives.
Since the defeat of the April 28 general election, the PNM led by Beckles have been more on the ground, having regular press conferences and public meetings in various areas.
The last public meeting which Beckles spoke at was in Beetham last week.
