Education Ministry Processing $20M in Grants

THE GOVERNMENT will be granting $20 million in book grants to parents most in need to send their children to school.
The Ministry of Education, via a media release on Tuesday, advised that it was currently processing payments under the 2025 School Supplies and Book Grant for pupils of government and government-assisted primary and secondary schools.
The ministry is currently working closely with the Ministry of Finance to secure the required financial releases to facilitate the commencement of disbursements, the release stated.

The initiative aims to distribute $20 million in $1,000 book grants to 20,000 eligible students, supporting families with the cost of essential school supplies and learning materials.
The ministry stated, “Priority for the book grant will be given to applicants in the following categories: individuals receiving public assistance, unemployed persons, and persons with disabilities.”
Applicants are reminded that they will be contacted directly via email regarding the status of their application and details of their approval.

The initiative forms part of the government’s continued commitment to ensuring equitable access to educational resources, the release stated.
Minister of Education Dr Michael Dowlath said, “Education is a national priority and we remain focused on delivering tangible assistance that eases the financial burden on parents and guardians as they prepare for the new academic year.”
The Ministry of Education thanked all applicants for their patience and cooperation.
