THE Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training (MTEST) is engaged in discussions with the student representatives from the College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT)’s School of Nursing, Health, and Medical Technologies over financial support for radiology students.

In a release sent on Thursday, the Ministry said it held discussions with the student representatives on July 2.

The release stated the focus of these discussions was the provision of a stipend to help cover ancillary expenses, such as transportation to clinical training sites across the country which forms a compulsory component of their programme.

Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training Prakash Persad said the Ministry committed to carrying out a financial assessment to determine whether a stipend could be offered to students in the Radiology Programme at COSTAATT.

He said, “I truly appreciate the opportunity to meet directly with class representatives and student unions. These conversations help us stay grounded in the realities students face daily, and they allow the Ministry to remain responsive in shaping policies that matter most to our young people.”
