THREE men were arrested in connection with alleged human trafficking.
They were amongst eight suspects who were arrested during weekend anti-crime exercises, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) reported.
Three firearms and quantities of ammunition and narcotics were also seized.
The TTPS stated via a media release on Monday that in the first incident, officers of the National Special Operations Unit, with assistance from personnel of the Canine Branch and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force Special Operations Unit, conducted an intelligence-led exercise in the Central Division between 4.30 am and 5 pm on Sunday.
During the exercise, officers proceeded to a house in the St Helena district, where three local men were arrested and eight Spanish-speaking females, including two minors, were rescued.
The Immigration Enforcement Section and the Counter-Trafficking Unit were notified.
One pistol, loaded with a magazine containing one round of ammunition, was also seized at the scene.
The male suspects face charges of Human Trafficking and Possession of Firearm and Ammunition.
The operation was coordinated by ACP Smith and supervised by acting ASP St Clair and Sgt Baptiste.
In a separate operation in the North Central Division, officers proceeded to the Valsayn district between 5.25 pm and 6.10 pm on Saturday.
During the exercise, one male suspect was arrested for being in possession of one firearm loaded with a magazine containing 18 rounds of ammunition.
And, in the Eastern Division, Task Force officers with the assistance of the Anti-Extortion Unit, the National Special Operations Unit, the Mayaro Criminal Investigations Department, the Southern Division CID and the Cyber and Social Media Unit, conducted an exercise last Thursday.
During the exercise, four suspects, ages 31 to 56, were arrested, one firearm loaded with a magazine containing 19 rounds of ammunition and a quantity of cannabis was seized.
Investigations are ongoing, the TTPS stated.
Additionally, several vehicles reported stolen were recovered by police officers across various divisions over the past 48 hours.
