AN investigation is underway into the use of a marked police vehicle to drop off a lady at a social event.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) issued a media release on Sunday after a video began circulating on social media showing the person exiting in a formal dress from the backseat of a police vehicle with the number plate shown.
According to one social media report, the person was attending a graduation ball.

The TTPS stated Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro was first made aware of the video when a member of the media brought it to his attention.
Immediate checks were conducted, and it has since been confirmed that the vehicle in question falls under the operational purview of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, South/Central.
As a result, the Commissioner has instructed that formal reports be submitted to him regarding the matter, which has understandably attracted public interest.

Guevarro stated, “While these reports are being compiled, I wish to assure the public that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) remains firmly committed to accountability and transparency. As investigations proceed, I ask for patience and prudence from members of the public. Let the process unfold as is expected in a professional law enforcement environment.”
He also stated that while neither the Commissioner nor the Executive can be physically present at all locations at all times, they welcome and commend the vigilance of citizens who bring potential breaches to light.
“This level of civic engagement is vital to upholding the integrity of our service,” Guevarro stated.

He added, “The TTPS has consistently demonstrated its resolve to thoroughly investigate and, where necessary, discipline any member whose actions deviate from the standards expected of this noble institution. The public will be updated once the facts have been established.”
While some comments in the video showed support for the TTPS especially if the child was the daughter of a police officer, others condemned the use of the vehicle for what seemed as personal business.
