The only position not filled by a member of ONE PNM was that of Welfare Officer, which the slate did not contest. Maxine Richards was elected to the position.

The preliminary results of the PNM internal elections were released by the PNM’s Elections Supervisory Committee (ESC) on Monday, after approximately 7,400 party members cast their votes on June 22.

ONE PNM was challenged by attorney Farai Hove Masaisai’s People’s Champions.

Thirty independent candidates had also gone up for the election.

The ESC stated that elections were held in 41 constituencies, with 51 party members volunteering themselves to fill 15 executive positions.

It was previously stated that 100,000 registered members of the PNM were eligible to vote, however only just over seven per cent voted.

Calls to Chairman of the ESC Richard Walcott regarding the low voter turnout and rumoured voter irregularities were not answered up to publishing.

The ESC stated, “The ESC reaffirms its commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and fairness and will, upon verification of the statements of the poll submitted by all presiding officers’ issue, under separate cover, the official electoral result.”
