CHAIRMAN of the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation Ryan Rampersad posted a video and pictures of soldiers not only rescuing people but pets also from floodwaters on Thursday.
He posted, “Little Bella almost got left behind. In rescuing a family in Las Lomas, little Bella was secured in her owners gallery whilst we extracted the family and placed them in the truck. When we were about to pull out, we heard Bella barking, and one of the goodly soldiers asked ” What about the dog?”
“We knew she had to come with us, because Bella is family too!!!
“From what we’ve been told , the floodwaters are expected to rise above six feet in that community, and if that really happens, Bella would not have survived the night.”
Councillor for Munroe Road/Caroni Savannah Adrian Ali also posted, “While cleaning the drain along the highway in Charlieville, we came across a caiman that had been struck and killed by vehicles while attempting to cross. The incident nearly caused several accidents. Acting swiftly, the team used their backhoe to safely remove the carcass from the roadway and disposed of it properly.”
A manicou was spotted trying to escape the flood waters and at Tulsa Trace, a cattle owner was contemplating how to get his cows out of a flooded area where they were grazing.
