“In addition, we have reached out to our partner agencies in Homeland Security and Defence, to effect a more direct involvement by our security partners with a view to establishing a more long-term, permanent and sustained presence at the airport,” the Authority stated in a media release.
The authority has also engaged the Estate Police Association (EPA) which represents its security officers.
The EPA has indicated its continued support for plans to strengthen the security apparatus, the Authority stated.

Line Minister Eli Zakour has been actively involved in developing the strategies for the enhancement of the safety and security of the Piarco International Airport, the authority stated.
The release stated, “The Authority wishes to reassure the public that we will continue to work with our security partners to ensure that the airport environment remains a safe and secure location for all airport users and stakeholders.
