President, Husband Congratulate Regrello

PANNIST Joshua Regrello has officially made it to the Guinness World Records.
He holds the title for Longest Marathon Playing Steelpan/Steel Drum.
His remarkable feat was accomplished on 27 December 2024, in his hometown of San Fernando, following 31 continuous, gruelling hours of steelpan performance.
Last week, the Guinness World Records officially listed his new title on their website.

Over the weekend, President Christine Kangaloo and her husband Kerwyn Garcia SC, extended heartfelt congratulations to Regrello on the confirmation of his Guinness World Record title.
In a media release, they stated, “Joshua’s accomplishment is a proud moment not only for him and his family, but also for the entire nation. It is the result of over two decades of hard work, sacrifice and dedication.
“As a mentor at The President’s Pan Camp 2024, Joshua demonstrated and championed the very qualities: passion, discipline and commitment to one’s craft that have brought him to this moment of well-deserved global recognition. His success stands as a shining example and as a source of inspiration for young people across Trinidad and Tobago and the world.”

Kangaloo and Garcia commended Regrello for representing Trinidad and Tobago on the world stage and for shining a global spotlight on the  national instrument. “What a fitting tribute to our cultural heritage, and what a powerful way to highlight Trinidad and Tobago as both the birthplace and the epicentre of the steelpan,” the release stated.
The nation was exceedingly proud of Regrello’s accomplishments the release stated.
“Your success belongs to all of us, and the nation collectively basks in the glory of your achievement. We look forward to your continued success, both at home and on the international stage,” Kangaloo and Garcia said.

Congratulations also came from Minister of Culture and Tourism Michelle Benjamin who said Regrello’s win was a win for all citizens.
“It shows what is possible when talent, hard work and love for culture unify. He played his heart out for Trinidad and Tobago and the whole world watched on with awe and excitement. The Steelpan started right here, and today, thanks to Joshua’s amazing feat it continues to make history. The ministry is proud to stand with him and all our creatives who are pushing boundaries and representing us with purpose and pride,” she said via media release.
