POLICE have found the body of missing taxi driver 64-year-old Sheraz Ali.
They were led to the scene by the person who allegedly killed him.
Ali’s body was found in an advanced state of decomposition in a remote area near Total Avenue, Gerahoo Trace, Fyzabad.
Reports are that the 26-year-old suspect went to the police station with his mother last Friday days after Ali disappeared.
The car washer from School Trace, South Oropouche reportedly told police that he had stabbed Ali twice during an argument inside a car, after which Ali drove away.
Police arrested and detained the man at the Siparia Police Station while the search continued until about 5.30 pm on Sunday when the suspect said he would lead officers to the body.
Ali, would have turned 65 on Tuesday.
He was last seen around 9am on May 19 driving his brown Nissan B14 and reported missing the following day.
Searches were conducted by the Hunters Search and Rescue Team.
On May 21, Ali’s vehicle was found intact and abandoned in a forested area off Quinam Road, Siparia.
Teenager confesses to killing man
In a separate incident, another suspect confessed to a murder.
The person this time is a 16-year-old boy.
Akil Sylvester, a labourer from Marabella died after was stabbed several times about the body.
The report was made by the teen’s mother who visited the Couva Police Station last Friday to make the report along with her son and another relative.
The teenager was reportedly protecting his mother from Sylvester who had an argument with the woman at her Issac Settlement Couva home that went physical.
Police found Sylvester in a pool of blood at the apartment.
The teenager was taken to South Oropouche Booking Centre after he was taken for medical treatment along with his mother.
Autopsies are expected to be conducted on both Ali and Slyvester at the Forensic Science Centre in St James this week.
