THE Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services will be assessing its facilities to determine possible accommodation for the 21 deportees who are due to return to Trinidad.
Defence Minister Wayne Sturge had said earlier this week his ministry will be reaching to Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services Vandana Mohit since there were several facilities under the control of her ministry that could be utilised and suggested the Piparo Empowerment Centre.
Mohit told AZP News on Wednesday, “In light of Minister Sturge’s pronouncements my ministry is conducting an assessment of facilities under its remit to determine suitability. Upon completion, I will communicate with Minister Sturge.”
The Homeland Security Ministry issued a press release last Saturday informing the public that 17 men and four women were being sent back to Trinidad and Tobago by the US Government.
They are expected to arrive via charter flight on Friday.
The last group of deportees has arrived in March – a group of 11.
Sturge is of the opinion that there were many more to come.
