THE swearing-in ceremony of Cabinet ministers led by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar started one hour later than scheduled.
While guests arrived early for the event at the President’s House in St Ann’s, the main guest, the Prime Minister had not yet arrived.
The event was advertised to start at 4 pm.
At around 4.30 pm, it was announced by the President’s Aide de Camp that two vehicular accidents along the highway was the reason for the delay.
The official broadcast taking place on TTT was therefore delayed.
Prior to the live broadcast, TTT ran repeated segments of Prime Ministers with focus on Persad-Bissessar’s previous term in office from 2010-2015 while the station waited for the event to begin.
Persad-Bissessar arrived at 5 pm dressed in blue and took her place next to Chief Justice Ivor Archie.
The arrival of President Christine Kangaloo and Kerwyn Garcia was announced right after.
