POLITICAL leader of the National Transformation Alliance Gary Griffith is warning the voting public about putting their trust in “cosmetic” alliances and to choose their leaders wisely.

He made this appeal last night at a public meeting held at the NTA party headquarters, St. Joseph.

Speaking on the United National Congress’s Coalition of Interests, Griffith said, “The UNC has formed a coalition with these smaller parties but has manipulated the screenings, so the others are contesting seats the UNC has never won. They have no chance to win those seats. If the UNC wins, there will be a UNC government, not coalition.”

Griffith accused the UNC of adopting this tactic to “manipulate” swing voters who largely feel disenchanted by both the UNC and People’s National Movement (PNM).

He said, “What they have done is create a cosmetic thing to fool you into believing there is a place for me, and a space for me in a UNC coalition. It is not a coalition of interests, it’s a coalition of Kamla’s interest.”

Calling this election an “election of choice,” he urged voters to choose their leaders wisely.

He criticised both the PNM and UNC of associating with criminal elements, engaging in unethical campaigning and condoning lawbreaking. He said, “We cannot sell our soul to get into government, because when you do that there is going to be a price to pay.”

Griffith said, “By you blindly supporting PNM, or NTA, or UNC, that’s not going to help you. I am asking the country, choose your leaders wisely. You have to look at the track record of the individuals and see whether we have the capability to make Trinidad and Tobago safe again.”

Last night’s meeting was the final NTA meeting before Monday’s general election.
