OPPOSITION Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar celebrated her 73rd birthday on Tuesday night with her supporters and candidates at a political meeting.

She also celebrated it with the one who presented her blue and yellow flowers on stage, soca star and decorated Soca Monarch winner Iwer George. The soca artiste has appeared on many People’s National Movement (PNM) political meeting in the past.

George, at the end of the United National Congress (UNC) campaign meeting at the La Joya carpark in St Joseph, told Persad-Bissessar he had two presents for her.
The first one was the flowers and the second one was the unzipping of a black jacket to reveal a UNC shirt.
He sang his hit song “Water” but with a twist – “The people want Kamla,” much to the delight of Persad-Bissessar and the crowd.
“Raise your hand if you voting for Kamla,” George sang.
“First thing, election morning, go and vote for the UNC even if the rain falling,” he sang to supporters taking a bottle water and throwing it in the crowd for emphasis.
Throughout the day on Tuesday, UNC candidates and supporters sent out birthday wishes to Persad-Bissessar.
Addressing supporters she said, “As I celebrate my birthday today, I want you to know this. Make no mistake, there is more love for the people in my country within my small body than you could ever find in the current government and their financiers.
“You have had leaders before me, I tell you, you will always have leaders after me, but you will never ever have a leader who loves you as much as I do.”
