THE Roman Catholic community is mourning the loss of a great man in Pope Francis’s life, but mourners are being encouraged to be grateful for all his years of service.
Archbishop of Port of Spain Most Reverand Charles Gordon in a video message to believers described the Pope as a man of moral courage, deep conviction, a man who has led the world through tumultuous times, and who has taught how to love in the family and   how to love the earth amongst many other lessons.

He said, “As we mourn the loss of the Holy Father, we pray that His soul will be received by God, His loving friend and that He would be with God in eternity. We are sorry for his passing, but let us also be grateful for the tremendous, courageous witness and the 12 years that he laid down his life for us as Pope.”
Archbishop Gordon said, “Let us also be grateful for the many ways he has taken, all the adversity that the world has to offer and many times, parts of the Church had to offer and he only responded back with love, witnessing again what the gospel looks like, in a Christian soaked and steeped in the gospel message.”
