PRIME Minister Dr Keith Rowley and Energy Minister Stuart Young are to blamed if the United States imposes sanctions on Trinidad and Tobago.
Speaking at the UNC Cottage Meeting at the St Mary’s Government Primary School, Moruga, Opposition Leader Persad-Bissessar said, “Stuart Young went to Venezuela, not once, not twice, 13 times. He and Rowley are the sole causes of any US sanctions on T&T.”
At the commissioning of the Central Block of the Port of Spain General Hospital on Monday, Dr Rowley said people were encouraging the United States to take away T&T citizens visas to go to that country.
He said, “I just came back from California, and if I never go back there in my life, I would ensure that the sovereignty of T&T is known to its people and respected by all.”
Persad-Bissessar challenged Dr Rowley to reveal the names of those allegedly encouraging the United States to revoke visas and impose sanctions on Trinidad and Tobago.
In a recent update, the US Department of State advised travellers to exercise heightened caution in 23 countries, including T&T.
The UNC leader showed a video of Dr Rowley dancing, with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in the background.
Persad-Bissessar said, “This is the man who was dancing in a conga line with Maduro. That is the worst bendover we have ever seen in history.”
She added, “Tonight, I ask Rowley who are the unnamed people encouraging the US to take away visas? Where is the evidence? Everyone warned Rowley and his crew, and now they are crying about visas and restrictions. The US government is coming for them—the PNM.”
She said, “Where is the evidence? This is another distraction by Rowley.”
Persad-Bissessar said, “Everybody warned them and now they crying about sanctions and visa restrictions. Rowley and Stuart Young know the US government is coming for them and for PNM affliaties. They know it!”
She said, “He now talking if he ever don’t go back to California. Where that coming from Rowley, you know they coming for you so you cannot go back to California.
“So he pretends he don’t want to go back when this man at every drop of a pin jumping (in) plane and going off to the US.”
Persad-Bissessar said, “What did Rowley think would happen when he stupidly broadcasted that we have terrorists in T&T committing crimes? The US antennas go up, and they start looking for terrorists everywhere—including here,” she stated.
