Dr Jeremy Inniss emerges as the leading contender to contest the Laventille East/Morvant seat for the People’s National Movement in the upcoming 2025 general elections.
PNM ources said that he has received nominations from nine units including the Youth League and Women’s League in the constituency.
He is among five who have thrown their hats in the ring after incumbent Adrian Leonce said he was not returning citing “serious personal reasons.”
The others are engineer Christian Birchwood, primary school teacher Tracy Eastman, TSTT employee and councillor in the San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporation Junior Hillaire and director of Simpson’s Funeral Home David Simpson.
Dr Inniss, a medical doctor, is from Almond Court, Morvant, in the constituency and has been a temporary government senator.
He is Chairman of Party Group 6 and former Chairman of the Constituency Youth League and an ex-Education Officer of the constituency.
Dr Inniss was also Chairman of the National Youth League from 2019 to 2022.
