THE father of a Bamboo businessman who was kidnapped on Saturday was recused by police at a house in Morvant on Monday.
Police said that Zahir Khan was rescued in an operation that took place in the early hours of Monday following a late-night strategy meeting led by Commissioner of Police Mrs. Erla Harewood-Christopher.
The operation, coordinated by Commissioner Harewood-Christopher and Deputy Commissioner Suzette Martin, was spearheaded by acting ASP Stanley of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
Officers conducted a search in a remote, hilly area off Grenado Street in Caledonia, also known as Egypt.
Around 5.20 am, they were drawn to faint cries coming from a wooden galvanized structure, where Khan was found alive and unharmed.
He received medical attention and was later reunited with his family.
The rescue involved several units, including the SIU, Guard and Emergency Branch (GEB), National Operations Task Force (NOTF), North-Eastern Division (NED) Gang Unit, and Air Support Unit.
Although the suspects remain at large, police recovered an abandoned AK-47 rifle with 12 rounds of ammunition at the scene.
