IN a freak incident on Friday, a San Juan resident lost his life when a tree he was cutting fell on him, causing widespread power outages in the area.
Damien Sanderson, of Hollis Street, Petit Bourg, was identified as the victim.
The incident occurred on the Eastern Main Road in Petit Bourg, where Sanderson was working to cut down a tree that was dangerously close to overhead electrical lines.
During the process, the tree unexpectedly broke from its base, resulting in fatal injuries to Sanderson and tearing down nearby power lines.
Local authorities are investigating the incident’s circumstances, which left many residents without electricity.
