THE father of a businessman, Zahir Khan, 70, was abducted from his home in Bamboo Settlement No. 1. around 10.55 on Saturday.
Khan was in his yard when a black Nissan Tiida sedan approached and three masked men emerged, one wielding a firearm.
The men dragged Khan along the road and forced him into the vehicle. A neighbour’s attempt to intervene was thwarted when the armed suspect threatened him with the weapon. The kidnappers then sped away.
Khan is the father of the owner of Cell 4 Less, a prominent cellphone and electronics retailer in the country.
Deputy Police Commissioner Suzette Martin confirmed the incident, stating that the Police Service prioritises Khan’s safe return. As of Saturday evening, no ransom demand had been made.
“We assure the public that the safety and well-being of victims are our highest priority. Our officers, in collaboration with specialized units, are working tirelessly to ensure a peaceful resolution. We urge anyone with information to come forward immediately,” Martin said.
