HALLANDALE BEACH, Florida – Barbadian trainer Saffie Joseph Jr logged three wins at Gulfstream Park when his charges La Cantera, Coldstream and Mr Narcissistic romped to victories here Thursday.
Joseph, fresh from capturing his 11th straight Sunshine Meet trainers’ title last month, won the day’s first two races before returning to also win race 7 on the 10-card race.
He started in winning fashion with two-year-old bay filly La Cantera, ridden by Tyler Gaffalione, crossing the finish line in 1:27.65 to take the Maiden Claiming 1500 metre dash two and a half lengths ahead of Annelle and More For Sure, who placed second and third respectively.
Joseph then teamed up with Edgard Zayas to make it two wins in a row when Coldstream, a four-year-old chestnut, also registered a two and a half lengths victory in the Maiden Claiming 1300 metre dash in a time of 1:18.31.
Zayas was also in the saddle of six-year-old bay gelding Mr Narcissistic, who won the Starter Optional Claiming 1000 metre sprint in 56.58 seconds.
